Langley for Families Foundation Donations Exceed $1.27 Million in 2024
Celebrating over $1.27 million in Grants for 2024
The Langley for Families Foundation surpassed the $1.25 million dollar mark in 2024 with a total of $1,272,481 distributed to nonprofits over the course of the year celebrating a 12% increase in giving compared to 2023. Combined with the philanthropic efforts of Langley Federal Credit Union, donations exceeded $1.85 million.
A total of 203 foundation grants were awarded to 156 nonprofits across the communities Langley serves. All grants were awarded to organizations providing access to education, healthcare, housing and human services, and safety and security.
Since its start in 2014, the Langley for Families Foundation has donated over $7.03 million to nonprofit organizations serving individuals and families struggling to make ends meet. These funds were generated from generous employees, members and successful fundraising events such as the annual golf tournament and cash raffle.

Langley also made a profound economic impact in the region beyond charitable giving in 2024. With more than $4.6 billion in member deposits, $4.6 billion in member loans and more than 374,000 members, Langley plays an important everyday role in the communities they serve.

Highlights from Langley’s 2024 Community Impact:
- Donated $150,000 in scholarships to local universities and graduating high school seniors, which included a 5-year commitment of $125,000 to Norfolk State University (NSU) with $25,000 per year providing financial support directly to students.
- Expanded the teacher mini-grant program to include educators in Langley’s newer communities outside of Hampton Roads. Historically, 30 Hampton Roads teachers have been awarded a $500 mini grant. For the 2024-25 school year, a total of 40 teachers received a mini grant to support new or existing classroom projects, with 30 grants being awarded to Hampton Roads teachers and 10 grants awarded to educators from Raleigh, NC and Richmond, VA.
- Langley and the Langley and the Langley for Families Foundation fulfilled their $1 million pledge to support Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters’ (CHKD) mental health hospital, with the fifth year of $200,000 combined contributions made in June 2024. The hospital opened in 2022 with outpatient and inpatient services having started in April and October respectively.
- Donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross to support Hurricane Helene disaster relief efforts.
Employee Impact
- In 2024, over $65,800 was donated by employees to the Langley for Families Foundation through Langley’s payroll giving program, celebrating a 32% increase compared to 2023. Combined with Langley Federal Credit Union’s 100% match on these contributions, the Foundation distributed over $131,600 to employee-nominated nonprofits.
- Over 215 Langley employees and family members participated in Langley’s 5th annual MLK Jr. Day of Service, celebrating a 45% increase in volunteerism compared to 2023. Volunteers completed 15 service projects at nonprofits across the communities Langley serves which included 13 projects in Hampton Roads and two projects in Langley’s newer communities of Raleigh, NC and Richmond, VA.
- Langley hosted a Summer Food Drive to support our local foodbanks when school meal programs are limited. All Langley branches, as well as the corporate offices at City Center and Oyster Point, served as drop-off sites. A total of 2,054 pounds of food was donated – nearly four times the amount donated compared to the previous year.
- Langley’s senior leaders volunteered to serve on 20 nonprofit Boards of Directors. Langley respectfully awarded $192,000 in grant support to the nonprofit organizations where their senior leadership team members serve.
