Langley for Families Foundation Donates over $300,000 in First Giving Cycle of 2023
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – (May 5, 2023) – The Langley for Families Foundation (LFF) announced the grantees of its first giving cycle of 2023 – a total of $301,600 donated to 43 nonprofit organizations across the Greater Hampton Roads area.
All grant awards focus on the Foundation’s three core program areas – access to education; housing & human services; and healthcare. The Foundation’s mission is to make a difference in the lives of families in all of the communities Langley serves, with an emphasis on providing basic needs to those who need us most.
Last year presented nonprofits with various challenges that have continued to persist into 2023. Ongoing economic volatility, inflation-driven increases in operating costs, and increased demands for services continue to challenge the operational and financial wellbeing of nonprofits across Hampton Roads. This support will enable some of the most impactful nonprofit organizations in the communities that Langley Federal Credit Union serves to expand their capacity, ensuring resources and services are available for households struggling to make ends meet.
Funds are raised from the generosity of Langley members, employees, partners, and the Hampton Roads community. The significant funding distributed in this cycle was a result of the Foundation’s top two fundraising initiatives: the first being the combined proceeds of the monthly charitable cash raffles, and the second being the contributions received to-date in support of the 2023 Charity Golf Classic.
The Langley for Families Foundation will host a total of three giving cycles in 2023, with the deadline for applications for the second cycle of the year due on August 25, 2023.
