Langley For Families Foundation Donates $37,000 From May Cash Raffle to COVID-19 Emergency Recovery Funds at Local United Ways
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – (May 13, 2020) – Langley For Families Foundation donated 100% of the net proceeds from its latest cash raffle fundraiser – a total of $37,000 – to COVID-19 emergency recovery funds at two local United Way agencies.
Both United Way of the Virginia Peninsula and United Way of South Hampton Roads received an $18,500 donation. The agencies are providing immediate financial assistance to individuals and families affected by the coronavirus and the resulting financial impact.
“We’re grateful to Langley for Families Foundation and Langley Federal Credit Union for their financial gifts and continued service to the community,” said Liz Hyde, senior director of development for United Way of the Virginia Peninsula. “These funds will help those in our community who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19.”
People who need assistance should reach out to United Way by calling 757-594-4636 on the Peninsula or 757-858-7777 on the Southside.
The June Langley For Families Foundation cash Raffle will begin sales on May 18. All $20 tickets must be purchased at https://www.langleyforfamilies.org/raffle/. Only 3,000 tickets will be sold, and the drawing will be held June 1 to announce the $20,000 winner. Langley will donate 100% of the proceeds to four local domestic violence shelters: Avalon Center, Samaritan House, Transitions Family Violence Services and YWCA South Hampton Roads.
Additionally, the Foundation has allocated all online donations to COVID-19 relief efforts throughout April and May.
