More than 100 Langley Employees Volunteer To Honor Dr. King, Jr.
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – (January 18, 2022) – Yesterday, more than 100 employees at Langley Federal Credit Union volunteered their time, energy, and skills in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy.
Volunteers deployed to 13 project locations across Hampton Roads, including painting at Center for Child & Family Services, organizing the thrift store at Samaritan House, renovating a home for sale by LGBT Life Center, cleaning and playing with animals at the Gloucester Mathews Humane Society, and more.
“Pulling together over 100 employees and 13 agencies in the middle of a COVID-19 resurgence and a winter storm was a real test of our commitment to the community,” stated Langley’s Chief Marketing Officer Fred Hagerman. “But our employees never let obstacles like these keep us from making a difference! We couldn’t be prouder of the Langley Team.”
Langley contributed $15,000 through project supplies and donations to participating nonprofits. Additionally, Langley’s dealer representatives participated by selecting nonprofits in their territories for a donation. Recipients include:
- Doorways for Women and Families in northern Virginia
- Read and Feed in Durham, N.C.
- Empowerhouse in Richmond, Va.
- Hope Vibes in Charlotte, N.C.
- Creative Works Farm Camp Light in southwestern Virginia
- Freedom Hills Therapeutic Riding Center in Port Deposit, Md.
